Something To Smile About

At Elkhead Reservoir, you're likely to see lots of anglers with big smiles on their faces. They'll be grinning at the camera after landing their largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, pike and rainbow trout catches. The 900-acre Elkhead Reservoir, a man-made lake, is just nine miles outside of Craig and is also a magnet for water-skiers, jet skiers, hikers, campers and hunters.

Eleven miles of trails are available for anything non-motorized: walking, running and biking in spring, summer and fall. The campground, with 50 spots, is an ideal base for fun summer weekends with friends and family, as well as central headquarters for upland bird and big game hunting parties in the fall. In winter months, the trail is open to cross-country skiers and snowshoers, and the lake is open for ice fishing.

The newly built campground at Elkhead (Bear's Ears) has been a long awaited camping opportunity by many locals.  Because Elkhead is the only large water recreation area in Moffat County, many people use the park as a mini vacation get-away.  The campground sits majestically over the reservoir and offers convenience for boaters, skiers and fisherman not ready to end their day.
