VISIT Moffat County's Museums |
 |
Moffat County's rich history has been gathered, collected, documented and is ready to be shared with you. You can visit our museums to get a real feel for our counties people, culture and heritage.
On the corner of the historic downtown Yampa Ave and 6th Street sits the former Colorado State Armory. The building has housed soldiers, community gatherings, dances and even a roller skating rink at one time. The armory was remodeled to house the Museum of Northwest Colorado in the early 1990's.
Stop in and enjoy the history that has been so carefully gathered, loaned and donated in the interest of keeping the history alive.
Inside the museum is the outstanding "Cowboy and Gunfighter Collection" that is the result of over fifty years of the dedication to collecting and preserving the way of the West.

The Wyman Living History Ranch and Museum was founded by Lou Wyman. This unbelievable collection was brought together in one place to open the museum August of 2006. The Wyman family has gathered an absolutely unique collection from throughout the west and beyond, giving museum guests an experience spanning one hundred years of American life, ingenuity and advancement. They guarantee there will be something you’ve never seen before! Lou himself is often found working at the museum and loves to share his knowledge about all of the great things in the collection. He not only knows what the items are and where they all come from, but the stories he can tell about the people in the valley will keep you hanging on every word. You can visit the museum on a whim or during one of the many community events that Lou is known to graciously host as his wonderful facility.
