CRAFT series inspires week-long celebration of Colorado’s Great Northwest
Over the last year, Moffat County tourist-oriented businesses and organizations took part in the CRAFT (Colorado Rural Academy for Tourism) workshop series. Those who attended were exposed to a variety of unique ideas and successful campaigns conducted by other tourism groups and organizations throughout Colorado. It was from this Colorado Tourism Office sponsored series that sparked the initiative to have a week-long celebration of Colorado’s Great Northwest from May 4th to May 11th.
“I think those who attended the workshops were inspired and excited for what we can do with tourism right here in Moffat County”, said Tom Kleinschnitz, Director of Visit Moffat County. “With so many great summer events, we felt a Summer Kick-off week was a natural first step”.
“We’re excited to showcase this area, and there is something for everyone during Colorado’s Great Northwest Summer Kick-off”, said Shannon Moore, Chairman of the Moffat County Tourism Association. “If you’re curious about what we have in Moffat County, this is the week to get out and experience it.”
“Tourism is an important economic driver for Moffat County, these events will start the main part of our summer season strong and show local residents the impact of tourism in our area”, said Cindy Looper co-owner of the Elk Run Inn. “We would love to see everyone out to enjoy all of the activities going on during Colorado’s Great Northwest Summer Kick-off”.
“Craig and Moffat County have so much to offer visitors. Our special events have a unique northwest Colorado flair, and our big back yard with rivers, mountains, and canyons offer endless opportunities for outdoor adventures. Colorado’s Great Northwest tourism kickoff week is a great way to highlight those opportunities”, said John Husband, Vice-Chairman of the Moffat County Tourism Association.
Working with various Moffat County organizations such as the Craig Chamber of Commerce, the City of Craig, the Craig Downtown Business Association, the Museum of Northwest Colorado, the Northwest Colorado Arts Council, the National Park Service and many others, a week full of incredible activities throughout Moffat County was developed to celebrate Colorado’s Great Northwest Summer Kick-off and Moffat County’s traditional summer events.
Colorado’s Great Northwest Summer Kick-off is May 4th – 11th, 2019.
